Thane: Students of Rajiv Gandhi Medical College, operated by Thane Municipal Corporation, have earned remarkable distinction by securing the top three positions in the state merit list for Pathology, conducted by the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS). This exceptional achievement has drawn attention to the college across the state.
Rajiv Gandhi Medical College, in association with Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital and affiliated to MUHS, offers postgraduate medical courses. In the second batch of the programme, six students from the college attained significant academic success in the postgraduate examinations for Pathology and Community Medicine.
In Pathology, five of the top eleven ranks in the state merit list were secured by students from the college. Notably, the top three positions were achieved by:
- Dr Ashwini Jenisha – 1st rank
- Dr Pooja Katre – 2nd rank
- Dr Sayali Lakhote – 3rd rank
The students were felicitated by Municipal Commissioner Saurabh Rao during a ceremony held on Friday. The Commissioner presented each awardee with a memento and a shawl.
Present at the event were Additional Commissioner Sandeep Malvi, Deputy Commissioner Umesh Birari, Dean Dr Rakesh Barot, Medical Officer Dr Chetana Niteel, UG Deputy Dean Dr Swapnali Kadam, PG Deputy Dean Dr Milind Ubale, Dr Dinesh Samel, and Dr Shivkumar Kori.
Rajiv Gandhi Medical College Students Shine
In total, 110 students across the state appeared for the Pathology postgraduate exam, and 118 for Community Medicine.
Rajiv Gandhi Medical College’s Dr Chaitali Bangare secured the 5th rank, and Dr Priyanka Dhakare achieved the 11th rank in Pathology. The college also attained the 3rd rank in Community Medicine, according to Dr Barot.
