Ulhasnagar: In a dedicated effort to promote early cancer screening and detection and work towards a cancer-free city, the Medical Health Department of Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation is launching a mobile cancer screening initiative. Between 13 and 16 May, a specialised Cancer Mobile Van will provide screening services at four key Primary Health Centres across the city.
This programme follows directives received from the District Health Officer of Zilla Parishad Thane, as outlined in a letter dated 30 April. The initiative has been planned in line with the guidelines issued by Municipal Commissioner Manisha Awale, and under the supervision of Additional Commissioner Kishore Gavas and Deputy Commissioner of the Medical Health Department Dr. Vijay Khedkar.
Cancer Screening Mobile Van Locations
The Cancer Screening Mobile Van will be stationed at the following locations during the campaign:
- Gol Maidan, under the care of cancer specialist Dr. Rahul Khurangle
- Mahatma Phule Nagar, overseen by Dr. Pooja Gundekar
- Camp No. 4 (OT Section), monitored by Dr. Shubhangi Devre
- Netaji Chowk, supervised by Dr. Ravindra Bhagat
Medical Health Officer Dr. Mohini Dharma has emphasised the importance of public awareness to ensure maximum participation. All health centre staff and relevant officials have been instructed to actively promote the campaign within their localities. The department encourages residents to take full advantage of this free and vital screening opportunity.
Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation Public Relations Officer Ajay Sable conveyed that this initiative aims not only at detection but also at spreading awareness about cancer prevention and early diagnosis.
