Mumbai: Dr Parin Sangoi, Interventional Cardiologist at Wockhardt Hospitals, Mumbai Central, led a successful intervention that saved the life of a 52-year-old patient suffering from a massive heart attack.
Despite being given a survival probability of only 1%, the patient walked out of the hospital after an intensive, multi-day recovery process.

The patient was rushed to Wockhardt Hospitals in an extremely critical condition. Clinical assessments revealed two major heart blockages – a 100% blockage and another 90% – along with a dangerously low ejection fraction of just 10-15%.
His condition was further complicated by obesity, with a weight of over 100 kg, and he required ventilator support upon arrival.
Dr Parin Sangoi and Team Performs Complex PCI
Recognizing the urgency, Dr Parin Sangoi and his cardiac team performed a complex Primary Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) and inserted an Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP) to stabilize the failing heart.
“This was one of the most critical cases we’ve encountered,” said Dr Parin Sangoi. “The patient had virtually no odds of survival, but we relied on advanced cardiac intervention, vigilant ICU care, and teamwork to pull him through.”

In the days following the procedure, the patient began to show gradual improvement. With constant monitoring, the IABP was removed, medications tapered off, and his heart function slowly recovered. Eventually, he was discharged walking independently, much to the joy of his family and caregivers.
This extraordinary recovery highlights the importance of timely cardiac intervention, particularly in high-risk patients with severe heart disease. Wockhardt Hospitals continues to be a leader in interventional cardiology, offering cutting-edge heart care to patients facing life-threatening conditions.
