Pimpri: DPU Super Specialty Hospital, Pimpri, Pune, has successfully performed a pioneering conduction system pacemaker implantation on a young patient, reaffirming its position as a leader in cutting-edge cardiac care.
The procedure was conducted by Dr Chetan Bhole, Assistant Professor, Department of Cardiology, Dr D Y Patil Medical College, Hospital and Research Centre, and marks a major advancement in pacemaker therapy for patients at risk of heart rhythm disorders.

The patient, with a history of valve replacement surgery, was admitted under the care of Dr Digvijay Nalawade due to repeated episodes of dizziness caused by intermittent heart block.
Initially considered for a conventional pacemaker, the decision was revised by Dr Bhole, who opted for a conduction system pacemaker, a technology that closely replicates the heart’s natural electrical conduction pathway.
This approach not only minimizes the risk of heart failure – commonly associated with traditional pacing methods – but also ensures improved synchronization and long-term cardiac health.
