“Thousands die each year due to a shortage of donor organs, not because of medical limitations,” said Dr Swapnil Sharma, Consultant Liver Transplant and GI Surgeon.
“One donor can save up to eight lives. It starts with a conversation at home,” added Dr Nikhil Bhasin, Consultant Nephrologist and Renal Transplant Physician.

Spiritual voices added moral weight to the message. Ramesh Vardhan, President of Shree Rajendra Yuva Manch (Jain Community), described organ donation as “an act of compassion and selflessness that aligns with the teachings of all faiths.”
The campaign also honored donor families for their life-saving decisions and heard moving testimonies from transplant recipients. Free health check-ups, QR code-based donor registrations, and awareness sessions reinforced the message.
Dr Virendra Chauhan, Center Head, Wockhardt Hospitals Mumbai Central, said: “By uniting medical expertise with spiritual guidance, we are building a culture of openness, breaking myths, and inspiring more people to pledge their organs. This is how we turn grief into hope and loss into legacy.”
With this initiative, Wockhardt Hospitals has reaffirmed its commitment to driving organ donation awareness and building a life-saving culture in Mumbai and beyond.
